About Dave Hancock (and Hancock Technologies)

Dave is a graduate electrical engineer with a passion for photography, audio and video. He worked for 39 years for Eastman Kodak, mostly on the equipment side of the business.  In his last 20 years with Kodak he managed various engineering projects, including several in the (electronic) color imaging field. This engineering background in color has given him a good understanding of the science of color and what is needed to obtain peak performance from a video display.

For many years Dave had his own color darkroom and took pride in printing (the old fashioned way!) properly color balanced pictures. Eventually, this gave way to the electronic darkroom (aka “Photoshop”), at the same time there was a similar shift in Kodak’s business model. Fortunately, Dave was on the electronic side of the business and, over the years, was involved in several rewarding electronic imaging projects.

Dave developed an interest in Color TV in his early days with Kodak.  Even in those days, he could frequently be found “setting-up” friends Color TVs. This AV passion continued until his retirement at the end of 2001 when he opted to turn this passion into a “mini-career”. In January 2002 he was trained by Joel Silver of the Imaging Science Foundation and started Hancock Technologies.

Dave prides himself in taking the time to do the job right so he limits his service area to avoid the pressure of having to get on to the next scheduled appointment.
